Best Things to See and Do in Niagara Falls

Easily one of the most famous tourist spots in the entire world, Niagara Falls offers something for every season. The majestic waterfalls are an incredible sight to see in person, which is why millions of people find themselves making their way to Niagara Falls every year. It is only an hour’s drive from Toronto, making it one of the most popular day tours in Canada.

The following are some of the must-see attractions to check out when in Niagara Falls:

Maid of the Mist

The main reason for visiting the Niagara Region is to catch a glimpse of Niagara Falls. There is viewing from decks along the walkways, but there is simply no better way to see them than by hopping aboard the Maid of the Mist. Be prepared to get wet, because you’ll be getting so close to the powerful falls that you’ll be continuously sprayed with the misty waters, hence the name of the attraction. But don’t worry - all passengers aboard the ferry are given ponchos to keep dry as you literally get within feet of the falls. In fact, you get so close that you start to think you’re going right in there!

The Maid of the Mist provides docks on both the Canadian and American side, so no matter where you’re coming from, there are no borders to have to cross. Tour costs range from $9CA for children and $15CA for adults. Depending on the season, the schedule times tend to fluctuate, so check ahead of time before you go.

Clifton Hill

It could literally take you days to get from the top of Clifton Hill to the foot of the falls with all the attractions to check out. Clifton Hill is a party in and of itself, with tons of indoor and outdoor eateries to hang out in, arcades to play in, amusement park rides to get your thrill on, and even street entertainment to enjoy. Hang out with Hollywood personalities at Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, or get a bird’s eye view of the entire Niagara Falls area atop the SkyWheel Ferris wheel ride. If you’re one to enjoy Halloween throughout the year, then be sure to check out Nightmares Fear Factory too!

Fallsview Casino

For those adults looking to do a little gambling, or simply revel in the lights and sounds of a Vegas-style casino, then Fallsview Casino is the place to be. Over 150 game tables await you to try your luck, as well as thousands of slot machines for the more machine oriented gambler. If gambling is not your thing, why not check out the many shops and restaurants in the area.

Niagara Wine Trail

The Niagara region is renowned for its fine soil ideal for growing grapes for wines. In addition to sampling some of the area’s best wines, patrons can also try the famous Ontario ice wines.
Other attractions in the area include Niagara on the Lake – one of the prettiest towns in Canada. The clock tower, smallest chapel and the hydro station are other area attractions.

If you are visiting Toronto and want to experience one of the best day tours available, then visit daytours.com for the best prices. Voted 4.5/5 stars by Trip Advisor, the expert guides and more personal size tours will bring you to all the major attractions in the area. You will be picked up from your Toronto area hotel for a day of excitement and even a wine tasting.
